I networked with an individual who had major success buying at garage/estate sales and reselling those items online. After spending a day learning his techniques and negotiation skills, I started 'CharlestonCo' (which is just my eBay account name - but it sounded official). It started off slow, but after continuous hustle, I've made thousands of dollars in profit. Although sales have slowed down because of COVID, CharlestonCo is still going strong. 💪

Skills Learned:

  • Waking up at 5 a.m to beat the competition

  • Efficiently researching products to see if they hold value

  • Negotiation skills

  • Taking quality product photos (using phone) to stand out from competitors

  • Providing detailed listings and utilizing keywords

  • Packing and shipping products safely

  • Answering customer questions and managing disputes

Side Hustle #2
June 2020- Current
Platform - Shopify

I'm a huge animal lover. They are, arguably, better than humans. And that was the thinking behind Petsania. The idea started when I was an angsty young adult (last year) looking for a way to give back. I had volunteered at a rescue, but I wanted to do more! I thought - how could I combine my love for business with my love for animals? And voila - Petsania was born. It took many months of preparation  (it didn't have to...I was just nervous), but I launched Petsania in June and I've been able to make monthly donations to shelters and organizations. Petsania has been one of the most intrinsically rewarding opportunities and I hope to keep growing the brand so I can donate more!

Skills Learned:

  • Drop shipping

  • Shopify

  • Product research

  • Choosing reputable suppliers

  • Edited product photos using Canva

  • How to build a brand

Homepage

The homepage was designed to be eye-catching, light-hearted, and funny. This is the brand voice I use across the site and social media.

Buy Now Page

The reason I chose to start with this product: more people are out walking and hiking because of quarantine and this bottle can assist with taking pets out and about. (Yes - cats use it too. Don't believe me? You'll have to check out the site!)

Where Your Money Goes Page

I blog about my donations each month for full transparency. I write about my awesome experiences visiting the shelter or write about the organization and what they do.

My first donation at the SBACC. I even had a Petsania shirt made. As you can see by my facial expression, I was ECSTATIC! No really though - this was a great day.
